Other Acne Scars Treatments

Depending on the severity of the acne scars, the doctor or dermatologist may also suggest a chemical peel or microdermabrasion to help improve the look of scarred areas. These milder treatments can be done right in the office.

Sometimes doctors inject material under acne scars to raise it to the level of normal skin. Finally, in some cases, a physician may recommend surgery to remove deeply indented acne scars.

One thing you shouldn't do to deal with acne scars is load up your face with masks, these won't help and may irritate your skin, making the scars red and even more noticeable. Natural acne scars treatment are recommended.

If you have a red or brownish mark on your face that you got from a bad zit, have no fear, it will eventually fade just like the scars you had on your knees after you fell off tree house when you were a kid. However, it may take 12 months or longer, so your best bet is to avoid these kinds of marks by not popping your zits and pimples.

Acne Scars: Treatments

Treatments for Acne Scars

We have a lot of treatments that are available for acne scars, they can be laser treatments, surgery, chemical lotions and natural creams.

The thing is how you feel about your acne scars?

· Do acne scars psychologically or emotionally affect your way of life? Are you willing to "live with acne scars" and wait for them to fade over time? These are personal decisions only you can make.

· The severity of your scars. Is scarring substantially disfiguring, even by objective assessment?

· A dermatologist’s expert opinion as to whether scar treatment is justified in your particular case, and what scar treatment will be most effective for you.

Before choosing to treat your acne scars, you should have an honest conversation with your dermatologist.

The objective of acne scars treatment is to give the skin a more acceptable physical appearance. Total restoration of the skin, to the way it looked before you had acne, is often not possible, but acne scars treatment does usually improve the appearance of your skin.

Tissue Affected by Acne Scars

Acne Scars related to the loss of tissue

Ice-pick acne scars
usually occur on the cheek. They are usually little, with a somewhat uneven edge and steep sides, like wounds from an ice pick. Ice-pick acne scars can be shallow or deep, and also can be hard or soft to the touch.

Depressed fibrotic acne scars
are usually quite big, with jagged edges and steep sides. The base of these scars is firm to the touch. Ice-pick acne scars may turn into depressed fibrotic acne scars over time.

Soft acne scars, superficial or deep
are soft to the touch. They have gentle edges that merge with normal skin. They are usually tiny, and either circular or linear shaped.

Atrophic macules
are usually quite small when they occur on the face, but may be a lot bigger on the body. They are soft, often with a slightly wrinkled base, and may look bluish due to blood vessels lying just under the acne scars. Over time, these scars change from bluish to ivory white in color in white-skinned people, and become much less noticeable.

Follicular macular atrophy is more likely to occur on the chest or back of a person with acne. These are small, white, soft lesions, often barely raised above the surface of the skin—somewhat like whiteheads that didn’t fully develop. This condition is sometimes also called "perifollicular elastolysis." The lesions may persist for months to years.

Surfing South America

Surfing in Chile

In South America there are a lot of beaches that are great for surfing, I’m talking about a lot of countries, like Ecuador, Chile, Perú, Brazil, and some other that have superb waves.

But now I want to give special attention to Chilean beaches.

Chile can be very chilly (hehehe), but going up north is much warmer, particularly near Arica near the Peruvian limit, the waves are well-built and strong, some other good surfing places in north Chile are Iquique and La Serena, but fine waves can be found all over the country, even though a wetsuit is obligatory.

Further south we can find a place called Pichilemu, one of the best surf locations in Chile. It’s located about 78 miles southeast from San Fernando. This place has a rock bottom, so the waves are always good!, and became a true surfers paradise. Pichilemu has been divided by complexity zones, (from easy to hard) La Puntilla, El Infiernillo y Punta Lobos, those are the three zones in Pichilemu.

There are some other locations that are very good too, there is Pichidangui, Reñaca, Maitencillo and Ritoque, Totoralillo, Portofino, Puertecillo, all of this places are very common and well known, but there are some other places, secret places, that don’t get much attention, but not for long, this places are becoming popular because of their waves, this beaches are:

Punta Choros: Northwest from La Serena, about 2 hour drive, near Caleta Punta Choros, you’ll find “Isla Choros” (Choros Island), ideal for beginners.

Secreto: The name (Secret) is because not many know how to get there or where it is, the locals say that the first time you go, you have to go blinded so you don’t remember the way.

Salinas de Pullay: Half hour drive from Papudo, amateur, but very good waves.

At last but not least we have Pucatrihue, 42 miles from Osorno, there you’ll find intense rights and lefts, cold water, rainy days and a fishing community called “Huilliches” that years ago, gave its life to surf.

If you go, keep your wetsuits in mind!

If you know more beaches in Chile or some other beach that deserves attention, don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

Acne Diet?

Acne diet that really works?

The TRUTH about the “acne diet” and natural acne treatment.

A lot of dermatologists say that diet has nothing to do with acne.

But on the other hand, you have others who assure that you can cure your acne with a "particular" diet alone.

So, what is true then?

The truth is that "acne diets" are a complete waste of time.

And this is why…

There is no way you can cure acne with diet alone. There are underlying internal problems causing your acne that you've got to directly address and correct which no acne diet can do.

Think about this for a minute, “If the wrong diet caused acne then virtually everyone eating the "wrong diet" would suffer from acne to some degree or another”, and this is not the case.

Some diets can help natural acne treatment, but remember, diets don't determine if you have acne or not.

There are some key dietary principles that relate to acne (but do not cause it!) that you must comprehend.

Sugar and acne

Many people affirm they notice a relationship between sugar and acne. They are not wrong, scientific experiments showed that when we consume sugar our insulin levels increase, this increase can cause an excess of male hormones that are known to increase oil production and exacerbate acne.

But, this doesn’t mean that if don’t eat sugar, you won’t get acne.

You can do the experiment of cutting back on sugar, to see what happens… but I assure you, you won’t get rid of acne.
